Solidarity with Palestine
We wholeheartedly support the struggle of the Palestinian people for liberation from ethnic cleansing, genocide, and apartheid. Our hearts are with them, and with everyone suffering at the hands of the racist, corrupt Israeli regime.
The ethnic cleansing that has been ongoing since 1948 escalated once more in the last few days, with Palestinian families forcibly expelled from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in Jerusalem , to make way for Israeli settlers to move in to their homes. Solidarity protests in historic Palestine were faced with brutal repression from Israeli forces. The Al-Aqsa mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam, was stormed by the Israeli Occupation forces on Monday. This was during prayers in the holy month of Ramadan. Since then, airstrikes with missiles and bombs have escalated, with the vast vast majority coming from Israel to the occupied territories.
Any and every life lost is a tragedy. The disparity in the scale of warfare and deaths between Israel and Palestine shows how grossly misleading the discourse of ‘conflict’ and ‘war’ is that we see in the international, mainstream media. This is not a two sided conflict, but ongoing and escalating ethnical cleansing at the hands of the Israeli regime.
In the last year, we have been working to stop the EU-supported Eastmed Pipeline, which would strengthen the Israeli regime financially and politically. Our thoughts are with the allies that we have met through our work on the EastMed pipeline : the incredible Palestinian activists fighting for their survival and the courageous Israeli people resisting their regime from within. We will keep fighting the extraction of gas in the east mediterranean, as one way we can act to stop the support of the Israeli regime by western powers. We will keep fighting for a safe, equal, and just future for all.
Talk about Palestine :
A powerful tool of the Israeli regime is their international image as a democracy, and legitimacy granted to them by other countries and actors, such as the EU.
